Saltwater Charters employs the professional services of Capt. Matt Thomson to manage the fishing operations on SEA BABY 2 and ILLUSION.

Capt. Matt has been a game fishing captain for more than 15 years and in addition to SEA BABY 2 and ILLUSION, has captained some of the most famous game and sport fishing vessels in Australia over his career. He has a mountain of fishing experience as illustrated by his fishing accolades - having fished the entire Queensland coastline, including reef fishing in the Gulf of Carpentaria, heavy tackle marlin fishing in Cairns and Lizard Island, light-tackle game fishing from the Whitsunday Coast, heavy tackle blue marlin fishing from the Gold Coast and light tackle sport fishing around Cape Moreton.

In addition to a number of personal fishing milestones, he won his first of many professional game fishing tournaments as “Champion Angler” some 15 years ago. Although the number of tournament and competitive successes in between are too numerous to list, he has captained SEA BABY 2 to “Champion Angler” success in the largest Queensland light-tackle game fishing tournament held from the Sunshine Coast for the past 2 consecutive years. This year he will again captain a team in the same event hoping to go three in a row!

		Capt. Matt has played a pivotal role in positioning Saltwater Charters as one of the most professional and well respected game and reef fishing charter operations throughout Australia. In addition to his fishing credentials, Capt. Matt has also held executive committee positions for Queensland game fishing and sport-fishing clubs, and holds undergraduate and postgraduate degree qualifications from the University of Queensland.
